One of my favorite things about growing up on an island was listening to the Elders tell fairy tales. We would gather around candles or sit under the moonlit sky to listen to their magical stories. These cherished childhood memories make Tell a Fairy Tale Day even more special.
This February 26, we can celebrate the magic of storytelling with fun activities to bring tales to life.
1. Host a Storytelling Circle: Gather friends or family and take turns sharing your favorite fairy tales. You can even put your spin on classic tales or invent new ones on the spot!
2. Fairy Tale Movie Marathon: Cozy up with some popcorn or pizza (my favorite) and watch movies based on fairy tales. Whether it’s animated classics or modern retellings, there’s plenty to choose from.
3. Costume Party: Get creative and dress up as your favorite fairy tale characters. You can even organize a little parade or take fun photos to capture the magic of the day.
And to celebrate this amazing day, I'm sharing the story of Ugat nga Ginto (The Golden Root).
